Staff

The appropriate staffing ratios are laid down in the Early Years Foundation Stage and will be adhered to at all times, however we currently work to a 1:6 ratio for 3 year olds and 1:4 for 2 year old children.

All of our key staff are qualified or working towards qualifications and all adults working with children on a regular basis have DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checks. Every three years, all staff update their first aid course and childcare protection procedures.

We actively encourage parent helpers at our daily sessions once your child has settled at preschool. Helping at the session enables parents to see what the day-to-day life of the setting is like and to join in helping the children to get the best out of their activities. Please speak to a staff member if you would like to come in and help at any time.

The Cygnets Committee

Cygnets is run by an elected committee, most of whom have children at Cygnets. The committee meets twice a term and is responsible for the management of the pre-school, including the employment of staff and the review of policy and practice. We also organise fundraising events. The committee is elected at our Annual General Meeting in October. As a registered charity Cygnets cannot exist without a committee.
